Operational Excellence Defined

Operational Excellence is a vague term. Every business defines operational excellence different, if defined at all. Some businesses use operational excellence synonymously with manufacturing excellence. Others look at operational excellence through a quality management lens. Continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc. are another way businesses view operational excellence. The well-known Shingo Model outlines characteristics or guiding principles of excellence. The Opexcis view of operational excellence is more holistic. Opexcis looks at the inputs (Integrated Solutions) that drive outputs (key performance indicators) that add value to business stakeholders.
